Check out the latest digital downloads including two of the original Spanking Specials (No4 and No6) published in 1973. The popularity of these specials eventually led the magazine to focus only on spanking. Candice Lavelle appeared twice in the pages of Janus and her splendid bare bottom graced the cover of Janus 146. One of a trio in a pop group Candice had recently behaved very unprofessionally and let the group down badly. She was twice sent to see Alan ‘Badger’ Bartholomew, an unorthodox but effective righter of wrongs. Last week we had an email asking if we knew which issue of Janus featured a girl in a blue skirt being strapped over a wooden towel rail. It says a lot about Janus archivist Jon Rayworth that he was able to recall the issue and title of the photo story within a few seconds. (We’ve been begging him to get out more!) Seeing as it is tucked away at the back of Janus 73, ‘The Trouble With Jackie’ is an excellent candidate for our series looking at lesser known photo stories.
